Directions in Music: The Quartet

A tribute to...

Tomasz Szukalski and Slawomir Kulpowicz are members of the legendary band The Quartet, who passed away in recent years. In tribute to their memory, Pawel Kaczmarczyk along with other members of the band The Quartet: Pawel Jarzębski, Janusz Stefanski and Andrzej Olejniczak (who has worked with the band for many years) created a project Directions in Music: The Quartet.

The band is composed of:
Andrzej Oleniczak - saxophone
Paweł Kaczmarczyk - piano
Paweł Jarzębski - double bass
Janusz Stefański - percussion

Andrzej Olejniczak - Polish saxophonist, founder and member of the band String Connection and session musician. He has performed with artists such as Andrzej Dabrowski, Joseph Eggs, Kazimierz Jonkisz and Maanam; he is also the author or co-author of more than 50 albums.

Pawel Kaczmarczyk - Polish pianist and jazz composer. He is one of the greatest pianists of the younger generation, composer, soloist and sideman. He is called new revelation of Polish and European jazz world, valued primarily for virtuosity, creativity and a very mature technique.

Pawel Jarzębski - Polish double bass player, he is also one of the founders of the Quartet formation. In his performances, he addes to songs taste and craftsmanship that consistently wowes the audience.

Janusz Stefanski - jazz drummer, composer and teacher. He made his debut in 1966 in Cracow, in a quartet with Z. Seifert. Currently, he also works as a lecturer at the University of Mainz.
