Jorgos Skolias - boisterous singer
Parents of Jorgos Skolias were Greek political refugees. He grew up in a very culturally diversed, multicultural youth environment. He participated in the events of the Greek minority, but also tried to sing rock and blues. In the seventies he began working with a very active and interesting environment of rock-blues scene in Wroclaw. He worked with bands "trend", "Group 1111", "Conspiracy Six". He began the professional work in 1982, im the jazz rock band "KRZAK" and became a subject of interest of many bands that were looking for innovative musicians - groups suggested him to work both on the concerts and in the preparation of the recordings. For more than a year he has been working with "Osjan" band.
From 1988 to 1991 he was a permanent singer of formation "Young Power", that was bringing together young and unorthodox artists. It was a very important demonstration of an innovative approach to jazz. He was sharing new visions of music by working with Radosław Nowakowski (drummer of the band "'Ossian'), bands " Tie Break "," Pick Up "," Free Cooperation ", Tomasz Stańko, Terje Rypdal, Nikos Touliatos, Bronislaw Duży, Tomasz Szukalski and Zbigniew Namysłowski. For five seasons, he has been taking part in the production of "Dziady" in the J. Słowacki Theater in Cracow. He participated in many recordings of music for theaters and films.
Jorgos Skolias is a musician looking for not only individual formulas for the use of human voice in music, but also inspiration in the domain of blues, jazz and rock and also in ethnic music, from Greece through Africa to India. He has beed studying ancient vocal techniques and in the result he mastered the technique of singing harmonic (parallel conducting three voices).
